There are two items that are referred to as spy sunglasses. The first are sunglasses by the company of the same name, which are not related to the second type. The second types are novelty sunglasses that have a mirrored coating on the outer edge of the lenses. This allows the wearer to see behind them while they’re looking forward and, of course, is marketed as something that someone involved in various cloak and dagger shenanigans may well need. The former type, conversely, are more directed toward what’s in front of your eyes.
Spy Sunglasses are among the brands that offer quality construction. There are very good reasons to not by cheap sunglasses. Most any pair of sunglasses will have a sticker that says that they block UV light. This, unfortunately, is not always true. Good sunglasses reflect this light, which is very harmful to the eyes, and that makes a huge difference in the crispness of your vision. It also avoids a very bad situation. With dark lenses in front of them, your eyes open up. If there’s no UV protection, it means that your eyes are absorbing a lot of this radiation, which is implicated in cataracts.
Brands such as Spy Sunglasses also use durable lens materials. This is oftentimes advertised by manufacturers in extreme ways, such as commercials that show the lenses surviving battering from pellet guns and other trauma. While this is desirable, of course, you’re hopefully not in situations where you’re getting pellets shot at your eyes. You’ll realize this quality mostly by way of the durability of the lenses and in their resistance to scratching, which is primarily what they offer the owner. This makes such sunglasses the type that can last for years.
Spy Sunglasses are also like other high-end manufacturers in that they tend to shy away from generic frame designs. Most name brand knock-offs actually don’t copy very convincingly the frame designs of high-end brands, though they make a mighty effort. Like other designers, this designer does have a distinctive look to their products that is built up between the various models. If you’re looking for style, designer brands are great. What makes them much more useful is that they provide good protection for your eyes. Unlike sunglasses, you only get one pair of those per lifetime, and they deserve to be protected from sometimes dangerous sunlight.
